Galveston......

Just because I'm putting up another post doesn't mean you're off the hook for commenting on the Memories post! I love that one, the comments are all so funny. It's interesting to see what people remember about you! So if you haven't already, add your memories and repost it on your blogs. It's fun!

Last Friday Brad was off so we decided to take a little trip down to Galveston for the day. Actually Whitney and I decided. Evan was all for it but Brad really strongly dislikes the beach. He was a pretty good sport about it. I love the ferry ride. The seagulls always amaze me, they are so aggressive! They'll swoop down and eat out of your hand.
We got there around one and shopped around in the little beach side souvenir shops. Evan bought a surf board thing and Whitney bought a raft. The played in the surf for several hours. I got in for a little while. The water was warm, really too warm. It was like a bath. We got a little sun but not too bad.

After the beach, we showered at a big bathhouse close by then headed to an old part of town with brick streets and tons of cute shops. We walked around an hour or two then headed to Joe's Crab Shack.

My favorite meal in the world, I think, is Joe's coconut shrimp and cheesy new potatoes. If you haven't had it, you've missed out. The restaurant was right on a harbor. After we ate, we headed back to the shopping area for the kids to get an ice-cream cone at an adorable little ice cream shop we had spotted. Evan got chocolate and Whitney got apple pie flavored ice cream. We headed out and got home around midnight. We hadn't been down there in years. It was fun!

Memories.....

My friend Lindsay had this on her blog, and I thought it looked fun. So here's what you do...

1. As a comment on my blog, leave a memory or two that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see what memories people have of you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. I would love to hear what you guys remember about me!

I tag everybody! Come on, it'll be fun.....

Monday, Monday.......

Like every summer, I've fallen into the bad habit of staying up too late at night and sleeping too late in the mornings. The reason for my late night last night was this book... Andrea and Vicki have both talked about it on their blogs so I thought I'd break down and read it. There are no words to say how wonderful it is! This Dr. Latham is a genius. I highly recommend this book to anyone with children of any age! I've been "experimenting" with some of the suggestions and am amazed at how right on he is.

Tonight was fun. It was my nephew Daniel's birthday party at Mr. Gatti's. I can't believe he is ten years old. When he was born, Brad and I were on vacation in Park City with Andrea and Zack. Time flies! He is such a great boy and I'm so proud of him. He came home with us to spend the night tonight. He's so fun.

As you all know, Andrea and I have been walking/jogging at the track in the evenings. Tonight after many laps of straights, we actually ran all the way around the track! To you, maybe no big deal, to us- it's huge! A big step on our goal to run a mile. Go, us!

Especially for Youth........

For those of you who don't know, Especially for Youth, or EFY, is a youth program put on by BYU University every summer at different campuses around the country. It's for kids 14 and up. My kids have all gone and have all loved it! (except Evan who is looking forward to next year) This year was no exception. Whitney went to the one held at Trinity University in San Antonio. The picture above is from left, Alex, Whitney, Mary Catherine and Ashley. Below is a picture of the whole "company", their group of boys and girls plus another group.

The first thing Whitney and Mary Catherine did when they got to their dorm was organize their jewelry, nail polish and snacks. Next on the agenda was rearranging the furniture!

EFY is the perfect mix of spiritual things and fun. The one in San Antonio is huge, around 800 kids. The had fun with old friends and made some new ones. I highly recommend EFY! It's awesome.
